Custom Basement Design
This was one of our biggest challenges. Our client was looking for a custom basement design. The basement was totally unfinished with a great need for quality storage opportunities. The client wanted to add a full bath, a kitchen, a game room area, and a TV/Movie viewing space for their children and children’s friends.
What We Created
First, we insulated and fired out the basement walls before installing and finishing water-resistant wall board. Electrical work was performed for adding plenty of recessed lighting, electrical receptacles, TV cable, and the like. Plumbing work was done for the bathroom shower, vanity, toilet, and quality ventilation as well as for the new kitchen sink. Additionally, the forced-air HVAC runs were added onto and adjusted for evenly distributing both heat and air conditioning throughout the new family living spaces. Flooring materials were selected for being moisture resistant above the existing concrete; a combination of cork flooring and carpet was used in the public areas; easy-to-maintain hard surfaces in the bathroom.
A drop ceiling was created using more interesting, better quality tiles. The added full bath is spacious with a larger shower and vanity. The client selected a traditional-style cabinet in a stained oak so that the cabinets could better withstand the wear young children and their friends may have on them. Mots of kitchen cabinetry storage and countertop work space was created while leaving room for the occasional children’s sleepovers. Simple, but efficient appliances were employed. Loads of other storage cabinets were installed for housing everything from games and blankets to clothing and other household supplies. Colors of materials were selected for helping keep the living spaces bright and cheery while being able to be timeless in their appeal. So as you can see if you’re looking for a custom basement design, your best choice is The Kitchen Village.
